Regarding inquiries about admission to the doctoral program (PhD) in the
Department of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies,
Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo:

A designated period for preliminary interviews is set each year,
typically from March to May for applicants to the A schedule,
and from September to November for applicants to the B schedule.
Please consult the admissions guidelines for the relevant academic year
and apply for a preliminary interview using the form below.

The preliminary interview is intended as an opportunity to mutually confirm
research topics and areas of interest.
It does not constitute a guarantee of acceptance.

Please note that, due to current limitations in supervision capacity and enrolment quotas,
the laboratory is not accepting new Postgraduate International Research Students (“Kenkyu sei” in Japanese) at this time.

Please also note that some enquiries concern deeply personal and urgent matters
(for example, questions regarding a child’s education, career choices, or requests for personal advice).
As we do not have a system in place to offer ongoing and appropriate professional support for such individual concerns,
we regret that we are unable to respond to these enquiries on an individual basis.
